About the Expedition

The Suburban Crossings Fairfield expedition happened in November 2007, with young refugee people from Africa who live in or have a connection to the Fairfield area in Western Sydney — an “expedition into one’s own neighbourhood”. Belgian photographer-in-residence Anne Rasquin worked with the young people to develop their photography skills and capture images of Fairfield.

Participants: Rose Mark, Concey Bosco, Filbert Bosco, Denis Sado, Richard Tombek, Young Osbert, Joe Mark.

Facilitators: Anne Rasquin, Ben Hoh, Juan Francisco Salazar and Denis Sado, with Lena Nahlous and Hart Cohen.

“Suburban Crossings: Fairfield” is one part of a larger partnership between Information and Cultural Exchange and the School of Communication Arts, University of Western Sydney, with support from Campbelltown City Council and Artstart.
